Because it&#8217;s just as bad as the Children In Families First Bill (CHIFF).<\/p>\n<p>In fact, the two are one of a kind. And even when CHIFF would not pass &#8211; which we think it won&#8217;t &#8211; the Action Plan for Children in Adversity is already reality.<\/p>\n<p>Those of the collaborative blog that advocates for ethics in adoption, Voices for Vietnam Adoption\u00a0Integrity, got it right:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Why oppose CHIFF:<\/p>\n<p>Why?\u00a0\u00a0A number of reasons, but it basically boils down to the fact that this bill makes international adoption a priority above all other options for vulnerable children around the world.\u00a0\u00a0Consider the third section of the bill, titled\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/beta.congress.gov\/113\/bills\/s2475\/BILLS-113s2475is.xml#toc-id5C3F67EFFF104358A542756AFE65A703\" target=\"_blank\">Promotion of a\u00a0Comprehensive Approach for Children in Adversity<\/a>\u201d in which the Administrator of the new agency established by the bill is tasked with implementing the \u201cAction Plan for Children in Adversity\u201d in at least six countries within the next five years.\u00a0\u00a0The purpose of this initial launch is to \u201cestablish model programs that\u2026 will be available for replication on a global basis.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0And the criteria for launching in those six countries?\u00a0\u00a0All of them MUST agree to \u201csupport the full complement of permanence solutions\u201d \u2013 including \u201cintercountry adoption\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>In other words, money would be siphoned off of funds currently used to aid and support vulnerable children around the world for the clear and stated purpose of incentivizing intercountry adoptions.\u00a0\u00a0Who stands to gain the most from that approach?\u00a0\u00a0Adoption agencies, adoption attorneys, and others who work in that industry.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Recommended to read the full blogpost <a href=\"http:\/\/www.adoptionintegrity.com\/2014\/08\/21\/why-we-oppose-chiff-a-misguided-bill-with-misaligned-priorities\/\">HERE<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>The world does need this, indeed, \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.usaid.gov\/children-in-adversity\">BOLD US INITIATIVE<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>ADOPTION LOBBY ALERT is an initiative of Against Child Trafficking.
