Some time back, last year, Against Child Trafficking and a European Commission civil servant (not Roelie Post) \u00a0blew the whistle on children\u2019s rights \u00a0at the European Parliament. The European Commission\u2019s civil servant informed Member of the European Parliament Cecilia Wikstr\u00f6m about the intimidations\/threats she gets.<\/p>\n
How Cecilia Wikstr\u00f6m deals with a whistleblower on children\u2019s rights:

Wikstr\u00f6m<\/span>: Did you ever consider leaving your job and just do something else, like selling furniture, interior design.<\/p>\n Commission whistleblower<\/span>: Well yes, if you have money. I don\u2019t have that. I have applied for other jobs, outside and inside the European Commission, but I don\u2019t get anything. So, I just take the 10.000 euro per month and I don\u2019t \u2026<\/p>\n Wikstr\u00f6m<\/span>: I would not mind having that\u2026 With that kind of money you could set up any kind of\u2026<\/p>\n Against Child Trafficking (ACT)<\/span>: you are not allowed to\u2026 as a civil servant.<\/p>\n Wikstrom<\/span>: But with that kind of money you could have put some money aside so that you could open a kiosk, or sell some clothes or flowers, or I don\u2019t know. Did you ever consider that?<\/p>\n Commission whistleblower<\/span>: Well what about the European children. Perhaps all the NGO\u2019s could just sell candles?<\/p>\n Wikstr\u00f6m<\/span>: That\u2019s what I would have done immediately. If my child would have been threatened, I would have said: OK, I wash my hands.<\/p>\n Commission whistleblower<\/span>: Yes, many people are giving up. It is very difficult. I am not the one. I almost have given up.
