{"id":6228,"date":"2017-01-30T14:50:12","date_gmt":"2017-01-30T14:50:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.againstchildtrafficking.org\/?page_id=6228"},"modified":"2023-03-25T13:51:00","modified_gmt":"2023-03-25T13:51:00","slug":"against-child-trafficking","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/old.againstchildtrafficking.org\/archive\/","title":{"rendered":"Against Child Trafficking"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Since 2008, <span style=\"color: #b11116;\"><strong>ACT (Against Child Trafficking)<\/strong><\/span> provides the evidence that inter-country adoption is a legalised form of child trafficking. <span style=\"color: #b11116;\"><strong>ACT<\/strong><\/span> is critical of the Hague Adoption Convention as it results in a legalised market in children (see Perverse Effects of the Hague Convention).<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #b11116;\">ACT<\/span><\/strong> was set up as a child rights NGO in 2008 by <strong>Roelie Post<\/strong>, an EU official, at the behest of the European Commission. It is currently run by <strong>Arun Dohle<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #b11116;\"><strong>ACT<\/strong><\/span> has had a major impact on reducing inter-country adoption around the world (inter-country adoptions have declined by 75%).<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #b11116;\"><strong>ACT<\/strong><\/span> works worldwide and has assisted parents of kidnapped children in India, Ethiopia and Malawi.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #b11116;\"><strong>ACT<\/strong><\/span> relies on donations from people who support our work against child trafficking.
