Non-consensual adoptions, adoptions without consent aka forced adoption are an increasing legal minefield when these are cross-border cases. <\/p>\n

However, the question that needs to be urgently addressed: should children be permanently separated from their parents. Should family bonds be broken. Are such decisions too easily taken?
\nIs adoption a child protection measure? <\/p>\n

Or are there better, less intrusive ways to protect children and help families stay together. <\/p>\n

The question needs to be asked if the EU has, and should have, the legal competence to regulate cross-border adoptions. There is a risk that EU legislation on cross-border adoptions may have the opposite effect – legalising what should not be.<\/p>\n

Food for thought: should the competence of the European Parliament not just be limited to rejecting the breach of human rights that most, if not all, forced adoptions are. <\/p>\n
